Kofi Akpaloo shared his thoughts on the Ghanaian music scene during an interview with Mike 2 on Adom FM’s Entertainment Hall show over the weekend.
He expressed admiration for artistes across various genres in Ghana.
Meanwhile, the presidential candidate of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG) revealed his appreciation for gospel music, especially citing Uncle Ato’s Mensuro as his favourite.
“I also love Daddy Lumba,” he added. “I love all kinds of good music, and I enjoy listening to Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy.”
Discussing Shatta Wale’s influence on the music industry, Akpaloo praised the artiste’s ability to keep the industry vibrant, explaining that “Shatta understands the job; he knows how to make the industry active. It’s not just about controversy for me… the industry thrives on it, and he keeps people talking.”
According to Akpaloo, controversy plays an essential role in an artist’s visibility.
“For Shatta Wale, controversy doesn’t get to him; it rather brings him money,” he said. He added that audiences are often drawn to stories with an edge, making it difficult for the media to focus solely on positive news.
