If you’ve delved into Kuami Eugene’s music, you’ve likely noticed songs with titles like Angela, Abena, Monica, and Belinda.
In a conversation with Amansan Krakye, the Canopy hitmaker shared that many of the female names in his songs are inspired by real-life experiences.
“My life—past, present, and future—all influences the kind of songs I create,” Kuami Eugene explained. “The people I meet shape my music.”
He continued, “Often, I’m telling the story of a woman I’ve encountered, whether as a friend or in a relationship. Names like Abena in my songs are drawn from real people I’ve met.”
Sharing further details, he added, “I’ve had a few experiences with someone named Abena, so when that name comes up in my songs, it reflects those encounters.”
