Award-winning British rapper Stormzy has joined Adidas to mark his latest venture, growing the #Merky FC program by opening an interactive community centre in South London
Born and bred in Croydon, Stormzy is assisting his local borough with the #Merky FC HQ, opening a go-to spot for fun-filled activities, community events, and more.
Stormzy and Adidas refurbished the previously dishevelled Selhurst Sports Arena, building #Merky FC HQ from scratch into a state-of-the-art football centre.
#Merky FC HQ will be managed by Communities First Foundation, enabling London youth to utilize multi-media rooms, game rooms, match-ready football pitches, and more. The two-story facility will host monthly joint activities, including in-person training sessions and recording studio gigs for young artists looking to produce their next hit.
#Merky FC, Adidas, and EA SPORTS have collaborated across the gaming hub, packing the dim-lit room with new gaming consoles, racing simulators, and desktop computers for endless hours of digital fun.
Speaking on the opening, Stormzy said: “I’m gassed that we can finally open the doors to #Merky FC HQ. Working with Adidas, I’ve wanted to do this for a long, long time and now there’s a community space that everyone in the area will be able to use and benefit from. When I was growing up there was nothing like this around for young people, so it means a lot that we now have a facility like this in Croydon. Proper homegrown!”
The facility will open its doors on May 2 with an exciting event in Croydon. Book your slot at the #Merky FC website now.
